velour lips & quick visits

Hi!

Yes I know, it's been forever. I've been busy. School, niece, family & saving. All the necessary boring stuff that makes up a huge chunk of life. Amongst all the ordinary stuff, I was delighted to have my sis Emma come and visit my sister and I.

She brought gifts. The beautiful Australis Velour Lip Colour range. Two colours each. I was pretty keen to see how this gloss turn matte lipstick would work and I'm surprised by the punchy colour and staying power. It lasted through dinner and I literally had to wash it off. Cool for you makeup buffs out there.

My whole outfit was based around the lip colour. I decided to wear my rose blouse as a contrast to the lip colour. I love this thrifted find. Think it was like $2. Black skater skirt and boots. Casual and comfy. Went straight out to dinner after this. Thanks for making it all the way out here Emz. You are the bomb sis.

Big Love,

New Years Day

If you follow me on instagram and Facebook then you'd probably already know that I have been taking bush walks in my backyard aka the Booderee National Park throughout my summer holidays. I grew up walking through the bush with my Uncle Barry in and around Wreck Bay.

So this is how my life played out on the last day of 2012. Woke up, exercised, ate breakfast, out to lunch with my family, watched the Hobbit, packed our bags and brought last minute supplies before we left town to go to Wreck. Arrived, drove off to the fireworks at Huskisson and then back home to dance with more family members. Slept at 3:30am. Woke up at 6:00am to leave on our little expedition.

We initially wanted  to go on an 16km hike but we thought about the amount of sleep we had, the heat in the bush and our families (especially the nieces and nephews) waiting at home to go to beach. So with all that, we decided to take the 6km total route to Whiting Beach instead.

I hadn't been there since I was a child and I think I had only ever been there once before.

I remembered this beautiful green isolated haven with clear waters. I remembered the adventure of making a fire with my friends, finding witchity grubs and eating them for the first time. This was the 8 year old me; off trying not to be worried or scared because there were no adults around and I had wandered off a lot further than what my Mother would ever have permitted. I remembered thinking that it was the best place on earth.

As I took the last few steps down off the bush track and onto the rocks I was immediately taken back to that time and to those exact feelings. Here I was again, at the dawn of another new day and another brand new year with my sisters Theresa, Sia and Moala. We promised ourselves we wouldn't waste the night with the cliche "I'm so cool" party scene. We wouldn't sleep the new day away. We would get up and start another new adventure.

When he was alive he would take thousands of people through the bush and teach them about the local bush tucker and Aboriginal way of life in our local area. Since his passing I have never felt more drawn towards the bush because that's where I feel most connected to him. I can hear his voice and I can see him walk vividly in front of me. Thanks Uncle for taking us wandering again. Thanks for igniting our childhood feelings of discovery and awe. Thanks for bringing me back home.

Christmas Pt.1

Thrifted / Dress Jacket - Shoes / Rivers - Belt / Gifted

Merry Christmas Friends,

I hope that you all had or a having a wonderful Christmas with family & friends. This is my favourite time of the year and it's also a time where I eagerly await all the Christmas posts from all over the world.

Just wanted to share my Christmas outfit. I picked up the dress for $2 like 3 days before Christmas at one of my local opshops. I love polkadots so as soon as I saw this dress I was like "HELLLLL YEAH!". Wore my fave jacket of the moment. This outfit is a little matchy for me. I usually like to contrast my colours more but what's Christmas if you can't be a matchy poo ;)

Took these photos at the river when I went with my niece and nephew to pick some flowers for our table.

I love Christmas. Hope yours was good. More pics coming.

vintage faded denim melbourne

A few months ago I went away to catch up with some of my lovely friends in Melbourne. The cold weather (I hate the cold) meant that I could wear my vintage denim jacket purchased by my friend from my favourite local opshop Mickey and Mallory.

I fell in love with the studded detail and embroidery. It's probably one of the coolest pieces I own and I wore this when I went to see Daniel Merriweather HERE and he even said he loved my jacket too!

So here it is more it with my purple oversized blouse. I found this baby in Brooklyn when I went opshopping with the Trini-Sissy Gabby. The colour and the buttons caught my eye and I'm pretty sure it set me back like $4. WINNING! Would have been cool to wear it with some boots or wedges but it was FREEEEEZING that night and were walking all over the city so I had to be kind to my toes :/

Vintage Denim Jacket $35 / Purple Vintage blouse $4 / Black Tights Kmart $8

Do you like it? What's your favourite denim piece?

Much love,

Aussie Curves: Dark

Blouse $6 Vinnies / Tights Kmart $8 / Boots $35 Target / Glasses $2 Salvos

Guess who's back baby? Couldn't miss out 2 weeks now because that would just be absurd. So for dark I opted to wear this gorgeous over sized blouse that my sister picked up for me a few weeks ago at Vinnies for $6.  I love the black detailing because it reminds me somehow of an old 50's Letterman jacket. Don't ask me how or why. It just does. My sister said it reminds her of the 90's but either way I love the length, colour and buttons because I can be a lazy little duck and wear it with plain black tights and boots and I'm good to go.

I searched my house trying to find my friends berry lipstick but I couldn't find it anywhere. So I smoked up the eyes to vamp up the darkness. It not literally dark but everything doesn't have to be a literal interpretation now does it. Check out all the other interpretations below. Love them all.
