Since I've been gone

I'm currently at a pit stop. You know, just taking a break. It's weird to call it that; considering I've been busy slugging away and counting down the days to London (92 days in case you're wondering). I still don't feel like I know where the first half of the year has gone and we have already hit the sixth month of the year. Feels like just yesterday when I was complaining about how life is busy and  how I felt like I was running on autopilot.

So what's new? Well a lot it would seem; because I've hardly shared anything lately so I'll try and bring you up to speed with it all.

1. I've turned 30. Say what? 
2. I've been offline for a while. Consider it a detox from the unnecessary amount on time spent on my fave app instagram.
3. I'm back in Mildura teaching (amongst other places like Nowra and Sydney), it's sort of a PD in an attempt to teach in as many different classroom environments to sharpen the skills before heading into the temp environment over in London.
4. One brother has come home and one has gone away.
5. I'm back at it and consciously working at my optimum health and well being. Increasing the fitness and setting new goals.
6. It's June and I don't have ticket back to New York (for the first time in 3 years so that's weird).
7. It would appear that I'm back blogging!
8. I have a ticket booked to London.
9. My friend, sister and I are working on a new side project blog as a collaborative space for when we move to London together. Super excited about this.
10. I just saw one of my most favourite groups perform live. TLC Took me back to when I would sit in my bedroom and listen to albums and dream about the possibility of life and 'growing up'.



Aunties adventure to World Food Court in Chinatown with our babies. Food was AMAZING! At Thai sells whole fried fish for $10.50. Fresh, crispy perfection. I die! The link has a few recommended places to visit.

Caught up with Evie from Work It Own It Use It while in Sydney to eat dumplings in Hurstville with Moala and she said to go and watch CHEF. Anyone who knows me knows that I LOVE good food and food shows/movies. I LOVED the film and watching chefs handle and respond to food so I ran straight home to make something yummy. Ugh it was so good. Asian chicken with melted maasdam and brie cheese topped with an Asian cabbage salad. Fist pumping.

Aussie Curves: Blue Lady Antebellum

Hello Lovely ones! 

This week marks the end of my school holidays :'( so its back to work for me tomorrow. 

I took an 8am flight out of Sydney to Melbourne and caught the 10:30am flight all the way back to Mildura. So I'm sad to be leaving all my Sydney-siders for another 10 weeks. 

My 2 weeks were jammed packed with outings and catch-ups and lunches and dinners so I guess it will be good to get back into my normal routines and my controlled cupboards ;)

Anyways this weeks challenge is Blue and I planned to wear a gorgeous vintage blue pussy bow dress to my friends wedding but the weather was warmer than I anticipated and I didn't want to be melting at my friends wedding so I didn't wear the dress. I will have to save it for another occasion I guess.

On a brighter note I finally made it to one of my opshops. I didn't get to scour them all as I planned but I made it to my favourites Mickey and Mallory and the local Salvation Army store. I found this pretty blue blazer at the Salvos and it was only $3.50! I wore it with another opshop favourite of mine; this pink and brown rose blouse. This ensemble is comfortable and I love how blazers can transform and smarten up any basic outfit. I wore my converse chucks because I was catching public transport into the city to watch one of my most favourite bands at the moment and I just didn't feel like donning a pair of wedges or sandals. I mean any excuse to wear a pair of chicks. I also thought of Closet Confession's October Blaze challenge HERE. So two birds with one stone. Gotta be happy with that right! 

Also October marks the start of Buy Nothing New Month. So before you make a purchase why not take the time to consider if the item is an essential or whether you could swap, borrow or buy it second hand. If you want to participate you can actually win a monetary prize so all the more reason to buy nothing new this October. It's only 4 short weeks and a challenge worth taking.

Those who know me are aware of my love for music and a special place in my heart is reserved for country music. Raised up on it because my Uncle would play all the old classics on all our road trips. Soooo I nearly passed out in class when I saw that Lady Antebellum had tickets on sale. I had no idea they were even coming to Australia. Thank goodness for credit cards because I managed to get 2 tickets to the 3rd and final show of their Own The Night World Tour.

The concert was sooooooo very good! Lady Antebellum were so much fun with loads of audience interaction. They even sang American Honey acoustically. I was just saying to my sister a few months ago "I'd die if I got to see them live" seriously though I woke up the next three days hearing their songs replay in my head. Definitely the highlight of my school holidays. Planning to go see Boyz to Men in November and the Made in the 90's concert this coming December. Sooooo excited to see Colour Me Bad. How about you guys? Any concerts or upcoming gigs you are looking forward to?

Supafest 2012

Supafest is an urban music festival in Australia and it was the first time I attended. I had not planned to go because I'm not really a Chris Brown fan and he was the headliner but my sister's bestie won 2 tickets to go in a dance (aka booty shaking) competition and I really didn't wanna be the one to miss out so I brought my ticket (and was extremely excited to see Missy Elliot, Ice-Cube, Naughty by Nature and Ludacris). Turns out Missy had never confirmed that she was apart of the lineup.  I hate shady promoters and the lies they put out there to sell tickets. She never came. 

So anyways we stood ALL DAY LONG (I'm talking from 11am - 10:30pm without any toilet breaks and only sipping on water to avoid going to the toilet) but it was another chance to dance around with my friends and I repped one of my favourite artists atm MIGUEL and his song ADORN cause I still got that on repeat. Respect to those artists coming out and putting on a good show. Even Chris Brown did his thing. Wouldn't say I'm a fan now, but I'm no longer a hater.

Hello to all my lovely followers. It's been a while since I have said hello because I usually just ramble on about crap...but I have had a few new recent followers and I wanted to say THANK YOU for taking the time out of your busy life to read or look at what the hell is going on with mine.

Thank you for your lovely comments. They always make me smile and it reminds me that people are actually reading this blog. A lot of time I use this as a record of recent happenings, but I will try to make it a bit more informative, well atleast with the clothes side of things.

I will try to explain my choices and outfits better.

A few weekends ago I met up with my cousins to go watch Jersey Boys for the second time. The first time was a few months ago in New York (trust me, I will never get over that place!) and I heard that Australia had one of the best casts in the world so I just had to compare them, plus it gave me a reason to hear all the songs all over again!!!

It was fairly cold that day so I wanted to be warm (unlike my Melbourne shananigans where I ended up catching a terrible cold due to my lack of warm clothes). I had this top that I had picked up at a thrift store (it probably cost me no more than 50cents because I'm sure this was in a whole bag I got for $3 (I love it when you get those deals, you can shove as much stuff in your bad and only pay $3).....anyways I adored the colour and lines of this top and I thought it contrasted nicely with the solid colour of the blazer (which was also a thrift find).....the colour of the blazer is not my usual choice (I'm all for the bright colours) but I really like this outfit. I think the top and blazer work well and I finished it with my basic H&M black dress and low cut boots. I kept everything simple because I wanted my top to be the feature of this outfit. I also kept my makeup neutral for the same reasons.

How adorable is the poodle chain? It belongs to my cousin but I was so tempted to 'forget' to give it back....LOL and the bottom of the chain moves as if the poodle is wagging his tail. I must ask her where she got it from.

As for the blog post title....I seriously am addicted to Jersey Boys...I have always loved Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons.... Walk like a Man was a favourite since I watched "Heart and Soul" when I was a little girl....but the show is just amazing. You really should go and see it! I was lucky enough to go with my two cousins and my old housemate (I miss our days in the desert!) because our other friend Kate couldn't make it at the last minute.

We finished off by heading to Chat Thai in the city. The wait was a bit of a pain in the arse and the dinner menu is not as good as their lunch menu, but all in all it was a GREAT day out.

Okay so being home isn't all that bad.....aside from the freezing cold weather and new job (argghhhh I kinda hate the full time gig....no I'm gonna be honest and I say I would much rather have the money to go where I want and do what I want without the job) its pretty damn wonderful that I can escape on the weekends and meet up with my beloved sisters and friends.
Even though its a 3.5 hour drive to get back to Sydney.....the time flew....... sharing conversations about the new job and plans for future travel and business ventures.....it was enough to make me forget that I was only 1 week into a 2 term full time job. So at 9:30pm we (Niva, Sia and Pulu) met for coffee and spent the next three hours talking and laughing about everything and nothing.

We had enough time to share some pics from the holiday and then  we managed to get a few hours sleep before getting up early to make our eyelash appointment (fake eyelashes are the best! all you need is some bronzer and you're good to go!) and then jumped on train to get to city to meet up with Jadey to have some lunch (heartbroken that we couldn't stay for her party....but I had to get back for work >,< ).

I wanted to be warm and comfortable so I wore my yellow converse shoes ($25) that I picked up in California. Basic black tights ($7), my sisters scarf from Forever 21 ($8) and old floral shirt that I have also worn here previously as well as my jacket from Kmart ($19 I think) worn here.....I basically have a few favourite things that I just love to wear....so I wear them.

Eat Pray Love

Bonjour Friends!

How are you all? Well it has been a long week since my last post...actually its been over a week but I have been busy packing up and preparing for my inevitable return to the bush..... so here I am, back in the middle of nowhere in Western Australia and I am so happy to be back in my house :) My roommate is still enjoying all the bright lights and wonderful food that Sydney has to offer... so she won't be back until Thursday.... I loved being back home and being able to attend things... birthdays, movies, food and shopping....

Although not much shopping occurred (I was busy with family and all my duties as a niuean girl during a funeral) so most of my time home was spent driving back and forth to the airport, buying food, cooking and feeding family and friends and cleaning and crying with loved ones over the loss of my dear Uncle.

Emo much? try having your aunty telling you that she wants you to sing at the funeral..... "It doesn't matter if you cry, it doesn't matter if you can't sing properly... I want you to sing for your Uncle"...........

*DEEP BREATH*

So aside from all that.... I managed to find this sweet little top at big w for about $25 AUD.... oh and if I could have found the next size up it would have made the sweetest dress..... but I still love the colour, the lil detailing in the sleeves....it's lovely and light and I'm sure I will get a lot of good use out of it during the hot Australian summer.... So sad I missed out on the little black cherry dress :( DAMN IT!

So back to the eat pray love. I managed to catch the movie on the night before I flew out to Perth. The first part of the movie left us all feeling giddy at the sight of the beautiful italian buildings..... we tried repeating each Italian phrase as she was being tutored in the language and we longed to eat pasta, pizza, prosciutto and melon..... GAAAHHHH! Can I please be there right now? You see, my sister and cousin (who is basically my sister) are approximately a year off graduating. The plan is to move to London for approximately 6-12months to work and travel all around europe.... on my brief visit to london, paris and amsterdam... I basically fell in love with europe and wish to have a longer affair over there!! First stop after we arrive into London.... Italy :) as for the rest of the movie? Yeah I kinda wanted to rewind the first part and watch italy over again.... gotta love the "eat" part of the movie.....the pray and the love part kinda had me wanting to hit myself over the head so that I could snap out of my boredom.

So here a few pics of the outfit..... I really need to take time out for better pics... but I usually only have time for a quick few shots cause I am always running late... note to self.... take better pics of the outfit so people can see what Im wearing..... DONE... thats noted ;)
