New York; the first time

Hello beautiful people!

How are you? It feels like forever since I last posted! I have been really busy juggling an interstate move, a new full time job (teaching is no joke....there is ALWAYS so much to prepare, so much to do and not enough hours in the day) and I have been working hard at maintaing my 5am starts to ensure I fit in my gym sessions even though it is soooo damn cold here at the moment.

Quick update: My unit is cute and I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of my sister and my my nieces from New Zealand. 3 more housemates will make the world of difference :) My friend Moala has made it safely to New York. This is her first trip there and I am so excited for her. It brought back all my memories from my trip last year and it is getting me excited for the up coming trip. Only 17 more days until I fly out and it is hard to believe because there is still soooo much to do here. I have to finish teaching this term while getting all my preparation for next term ready (most teachers do this in the school holidays) so the next 2 weekends will be planning and packing. I can't wait to leave this cold weather behind even if it is just for a few weeks.

Excited to see/ meet my NY blogger ladies.

I have messaged a few of you, but if you are in New York and would like to meet some easy-go-lucky Australians then email me or leave a msg. We will be in town from the 28th of June to the 7th of July. What are you all doing on the 4th of July? We were planning on going to the Apollo Theatre for amateur night....if you are not busy come and get dressed up for a night out!

Here is a message from Moala.... Can you tell how excited she is :)

Carmel jean!!!! I love it here so much!!!!! And that video is having me crack up here right (I put a clip from Coming to America on her FB when Eddie Murphy yells out the window "GOODMORNING MY NEIGHBOURS!") now because even thought our appt doesn't have a fire escape Eddie Murphy could totally do it across from us. It is super super brilliant here :):) were in Brooklyn but haven't explored it yet we went into the city today and subway'd like a beech!! Went to this cute cafe place and had breakfast burritos, then went exploring (we made no plans today in case of jet lag) at all the shops. Ate Cinnabon, and fresh macarons then went exploring shops lol cos we recognized them...eg Walgreens and urban outfitters and jamba juice and WHOLE FOODS (omg they make my life complete the sample carts were playing with strawberries today so we got mini strawberry fudge sundaes, strawberry salad and strawberry napoleons) and walked everywhere around times sq and broadway. Then decided to try little Italy so trained it to chinatown..and little Italy street is MAGICAL I am in love!! But hit canal street after that and the kitschy shopping is brilliant guys set up on the street with 'everything 2 dollars! Holla!' signs and all the NYC merch super cheap so played with that idea. But yeah had some fun! I wish you were here to show me what to do!! But I'm determined to learn the subway so will get a weekly tomorrow. We wanna check out Williamsburg (where we're staying) and find more macarons and the city reliquary and go to the hells kitchen flea and maybe just play around here for nighttime if we have the energy. Again I wish you were here I'm super super in love with the place!!! How's the accom looking??

Anyways as the post suggests, I wanted to share these photos. Never could I imagine how cool this place would be. NYC I am in love with you. Can't wait to return to you.

It was an overcast day and we were hanging around waiting to meet Deja so we walked to a diner to get some lunch. Chicken soup and pastrami roll. MEMORIES.

deep dish & blues

So just a quick post from the OOTD when I was is Chicago. We went to try some of Chicago's famous deep dish pizza. From memory I think we went to Gino's East.  The pizza was different but I still liked it. After feeding our faces we went to Buddy Guy's Blues Lounge and that place was freaking AHMAZING!!! Packed out with blues lovers and a guaranteed good time.
How much do you love my friend Emma's dress and hair! It was the first time she tried this "do" and I have to say that it looks fabulous!
We were obsessed with the walls.....we enjoyed scribbling all over it.

Tunnel Hill: ootd black and foral 03

Shirt $25 Best and Less Tights $15 Target Shoes $8 Kmart

Just wanted to share some pictures from a Sabbath afternoon outing. We go bush so the kids can run around and be free. Tunnel hill is one of my most favourite places in WA because its so pretty..... and fun.... can you believe that most of; if not all of the students climb everywhere WITHOUT SHOES!! Lol these kids are hardcore!! I got sore feet with my orange shoes...so I have no idea how they did it cause the rocks were sharp....although; I also hate coming here with the kids because Im scared they will hurt themselves...They jump out onto the ledges climbing down and up with ease....Its almost as if each one is a lil spiderman!!! Also two of the photos are not mine.....someone else took them from back down the bottom at the buses while we were up the hill.

Even though I miss home and the shops and my friends when Im here for work...I know Im going to miss this just a little more.

Black and foral OOTD. 2

Sorry about the mirror pose....I really hated doing it....cause I usually see tweens doing this with a buttload of eyeliner and their little bras exposed....and its in the toilet....ARGHHH SO TACKY!

Anyways this is an outfit from Broome that I  forgot to post and I had no one to take a nice photo....*giggling to myself*....while my collegues are the sweetest....I am totally different from them. I mean I can get along with most people because I try to talk and generate SOMETHING to talk about.....but on most days I think they look at me and think "Why does she dress up? Poor girl, we are in the middle of nowhere".....well chap sometimes thats the point!

If I'm bored I will usually wear something loud, funny or silly just to get a reaction....or for the fun of it.....I mainly do it as a game between myself and the kids in my class. I have a pair of bright yellow flat shoes...and I have the same pair in black....I wore them odd to school one day because I had black and yellow on in my clothes....and the kids FREAKED out...and laughed and told me all day "Miss you got wrong shoes on"....one of the smaller kids who doesnt really speak that much english looked at me, then my shoes and then shook his head....not as if he was disapproving....but he was just trying to tell me that I got it wrong.....But really, who says odd is wrong? Odd is just another word for different and I'd rather be different than the same as anyone else!

Totally being a tourist....I have no shame)

Black and floral 00TD

Here are a few pics from my birthday the other day....I woke up, got dressed and went for a walk and found the metal scrap yard down by the farm here. This outfit is made up with one of my favourite combinations...black and bright colours. I found some flowers and they reminded me of my Mami. She is always picking flowers, wearing flowers, planting flowers.....um the shirt was $2 at the opshop, skirt was $2.50 from Kmart, shoes $3 from Target....so my bank and I are both happy.
